Local Governance Opportunity

We're seeking a skilled Local Governor to join our school trust, focused on delivering exceptional education through collaborative working.

Position: Local Governor

Salary: This is a voluntary role, with expenses paid in line with our allowances policy

Location: Derby

Time commitment: Approximately ten meetings per year.

About the role:

As a Local Governor, you'll be part of our trust's governance structure, working closely with headteachers and senior leaders. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Determining the school's mission, values, and long-term vision, aligning with our trust's objectives
  • Approving key local policies
  • Collaborating with our central team to ensure accurate evaluation of the school's performance and effective improvement plans
  • Engaging with parents, pupils, staff, and the wider community, ensuring their involvement and consultation
  • Ensuring a broad and balanced curriculum, preparing pupils for their next stage of education and adult life
  • Working with our central team and headteacher to set and monitor the school's budget, ensuring effective management of resources
  • Measuring the school's impact and progress towards priorities on the School Improvement Plan

About you

You'll have experience in decision-making at a middle or senior level, independence of thought, and a strong belief in our charity's ethos and values. A background in education is not necessary; any professional skills will be valuable.
