Job Title: Occupational Therapist - Hand Therapy Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced occupational therapist to join our hand therapy team at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with orthopaedic consultants, nurses, plaster technicians, and orthotists to provide high-quality care to patients with hand injuries and conditions.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in occupational therapy, with a minimum of 2 years' experience at Band 5 level. You should have excellent clinical skills, a good understanding of legal responsibilities, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. A Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy is essential, and evidence of recent CPD/training pertinent to specialty is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with consultants, nurses, and other therapy staff to ensure best outcomes for patients.
  • Work at an advanced level, prioritizing your own workload without direct supervision.
  • Be responsible and accountable for all aspects of work, including supervising junior staff members.
  • Facilitate implementation and evaluation of clinical outcomes within designated pathways.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of relevant national standards and trust policies.

What We Offer:

A competitive salary of £39,693 - £56,009 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including a generous pension scheme, annual leave entitlement, and opportunities for professional development. The post is based at Dorset County Hospital, with a focus on covering adult and paediatric orthopaedic elective and trauma clinics, as well as rheumatology patients.
