NHS Spiritual Care Opportunity

The NHS is seeking a dedicated Spiritual Care Professional to join our team in enhancing and developing the pastoral, spiritual, and religious care services we provide. As a chaplain, you will foster inclusivity and broaden the diversity of our team by encouraging applications from those coming from a faith or belief other than Christianity, particularly from Muslim applicants.

This part-time or full-time position offers flexible working hours to suit your schedule, with the primary base at the Littlemore Mental Health Centre in Oxford and travel required across the Trust including Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and further afield.

Your duties will include offering spiritual and pastoral care to inpatients, community service users, families, carers, and Trust staff, assessing their spiritual, pastoral, and religious needs, and providing appropriate support and referrals. You will also visit inpatient units and community service users as required, support staff wellbeing, establish good working relationships with clinical and other staff, and assist in the provision, maintenance, and care of spiritual and religious resources. Additionally, you will contribute towards chaplaincy service innovation and development, encourage an interest in spiritual and pastoral care among other health professionals, and promote quality of care and safety of patients, visitors, and staff.

We offer an estimated salary of £32,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package. If you are passionate about providing spiritual and pastoral care, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding role.

To be successful in this position, you will need to have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, endorsement or equivalent, and experience of offering spiritual/pastoral care. You should also be able to work in emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically demanding/distressing contexts, possess self-care practices, and be willing to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
