About the Senior Investment Manager - Debt Fund Role:

Our client, a well-established and innovative debt fund, is committed to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This is a fantastic opportunity to join their Northern-based debt team and make a real difference in the SME landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ownership and understanding of the given fund, with the ability to articulate a delivery plan to meet the needs of the market and deliver the targets of the fund.
  • Extensive awareness and understanding of the region, with the willingness to operate across the region to access key business networks and originate investment opportunities in the SME market.
  • Strategic support to the business across the whole region.
  • Management of the distribution of enquiries across the fund investment managers, while also managing their own delivery pipeline and attending face-to-face meetings with applicants to determine their needs and identify the right product to meet their goals.
  • Identification, collection, and processing of all necessary information to enable a full appraisal of each proposition to be undertaken in line with the investment operating guidelines of the fund.
  • Support for the structuring and appraisal of investment opportunities in the wider fund team, leveraging experience.
  • Effective deal management and use of internal networks to manage the end-to-end process for debt transactions.
  • Management of the full debt lifecycle, including origination, structuring, negotiating, delivery, and relevant support to the portfolio team during the repayment phase.
  • Analysis of statutory accounts, management accounts, and financial projections for risk, completing a financial analysis sheet, and undertaking appropriate internal due diligence.
  • Preparation of appraisals for investment committee and confidence in producing and presenting proposals in a concise manner.
  • Raising cases for discussion with leadership and/or key stakeholders on the deal team.
  • Production of fund-level reports and contribution to investor meetings.
  • Management responsibilities for an investment associate who will support the fund delivery.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in SME/corporate finance environments and a strong understanding of business funding.
  • Debt transaction and loan assessment experience, ideally within a banking or similar corporate finance environment.
  • Necessary credit skills to analyze businesses and loan requests to identify key issues and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Strong relationship skills, including the ability to convey and explain information coherently in both oral and written formats.
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of tasks.
  • Flexibility to travel as required to other offices and/or events in the NW region.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ambitious and hard-working self-starter.
  • Out-going and sociable.
  • Driving license.
  • IT literacy, including the use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
