Detailed Job Description and Main ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities include undertaking and participating in medicines reconciliation on admission, assisting in the development of and undertaking ward-based dispensing duties, undertaking required audit work on a monthly basis, supporting staff around medication error incidents and ways to improve accurate medicine administration, acting as an Accredited Technician Checker, carrying out three-monthly Controlled Drug (CD) checks, contributing to the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and supporting the in-house investigation and resolution of medicines management-related incidents.
Person SpecificationEssential criteria include a BTEC Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent), registration with the GPhC/proof of application in process, and accuracy checking accreditation. Substantial experience as a qualified technician in hospital pharmacy, substantial experience of dispensary and ward-based services, experience of implementing change and new developments, experience of developing guidelines/protocols/SOP, experience of training healthcare professionals/unqualified staff, and experience of audit are also essential.
