VIA's Surrey service – HIDC, focuses on engaging and developing sustained contact with adult High Impact Complex Drinkers' within the community. The flexible and adaptable service ensures that those most in need can access support without fixed time-limited interventions or thresholds.

Job Description:

As a Community Alcohol Support Specialist, you will support the delivery of a wide range of interventions for service users. These include advising on alcohol awareness and harm minimisation advice, supporting practitioners with assessments and follow-up assessments, meeting with service users in their own homes, and assisting to access wider services through referrals.

  • Provide guidance on alcohol-related issues and support clients in reducing harm
  • Assist practitioners in completing assessments and ensure timely follow-ups
  • Develop relationships with service users and support them in accessing additional resources

You will also participate in team meetings and contribute to tasks necessary to support the needs of the service. A positive attitude, non-judgmental approach, and passion for helping individuals affected by drugs and alcohol are essential qualities for this role.

We offer a supportive environment where you can develop your skills and knowledge in the drug and alcohol sector. You will be allocated a volunteer supervisor for ongoing support and supervision. Our central volunteer services team is also available to assist you during your placement.
