Job Title: Senior Environmental Health Officer

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Health Officer to join their team in Skelmersdale and the surrounding area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist professional competencies across several regulatory areas of Environmental Protection and Private Sector Housing.
  • Ensure that appropriate environmental protection safeguards are applied to prevent pollution from adversely affecting people's health or the environment.
  • Assist in developing the Council's Environmental Protection functions, including providing specialist advice and support to other colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Act as a professional lead in relation to relevant Environmental Protection and Private Sector Housing regulatory work areas, including noise and acoustics, air quality, contaminated land, and pollution prevention and control.
  • Respond to complaints and inspect premises/land under relevant Environmental Health and Public Health legislation, advising on standards and taking enforcement action as necessary.
Requirements:
  • BSc/MSc Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent, with registration by the EHORB.
  • Full driving licence and use of own car.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret, and apply complex legislation, technical guidance, and data, and disseminate this in various written and verbal reporting formats.
  • Excellent IT and technology skills.
Contract Details:
  • Initial 3 to 6 month ongoing contract with the opportunity to extend.
  • PAYE via Umbrella.
  • Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with flexible office-based work.

As a Local Authority-based role, candidates will be required to complete an onboarding and compliance process, including DBS and online training modules, prior to starting.
