Job Summary

Menzies Aviation is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cargo Agent to join our team. As a Cargo Agent, you will be responsible for examining manifests, bills of lading, and air waybills to determine work procedures for releasing cargo.

Key Responsibilities

  • Notify consignees or representatives of arrival dates of shipment, customs clearance requirements, and tonnage shipment.
  • Make cash transactions and collect payments from customers for freight prior to release.
  • Authorize final approval for cargo release.
  • Prepare invoices for charges, airline clients, and management regarding freight.
  • Work with government agencies to clear shipments for import.
  • Meet flights to exchange documents.
  • Recognize and handle dangerous goods upon receiving.
  • Ensure compliance with all local airport, TSA, CBP, and FAA rules.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • One year of college certificate or technical school, six months of related cargo agent experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to proficiently speak, read, and write in English.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment testing, including drug testing and a physical.
  • Must be able and flexible to work variable shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Have/maintain a current driver's license with no violations over the past 5 years.
  • The ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Dangerous goods awareness/acceptance knowledge.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required airport and custom badges/seals.
