Purpose and Scope:

The purpose of this role is to undertake pricing and actuarial input required to support delivery of the DB Business Plan. This includes all aspects of BAU delivery and other ad-hoc requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Support the DB Pricing Actuary in the accurate and timely delivery of new business quotations.
  2. Populate and run pricing models to calculate premiums, including data manipulation, assumption setting, and calculation of associated pricing metrics.
  3. Check drafts of internal sign-off documentation produced by the DB Actuarial Analysts for each quotation, ensuring results are presented to the DB Pricing Actuary in a clear manner.
  4. For quotes that are outsourced, collaborate with the DB Actuarial Analyst and DB Pricing Actuary to transition schemes to outsourcers and produce final deliverables for the quotation.
  5. Drive projects forward to ensure they are progressed in line with expected timescales.
  6. Develop a deep knowledge of all systems and tools used in DB pricing.
  7. Support in ad-hoc tasks such as data analysis, proposition developments, systems testing, and process improvements.
  8. Collaborate with the team to promote a culture of collaboration and engagement within the DB Pricing team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Working towards FIA qualification and making good progress with the actuarial exams is desirable.
  2. Strong IT skills, particularly Excel.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Ability to work without close supervision.
  5. Sound knowledge of technical actuarial concepts, particularly principles underlying bulk annuity pricing.
  6. Good knowledge and awareness of the DB buy-in/buy-out market, life insurance, and relevant regulation.

Experience and Skills:

  1. Good experience of working within a pensions or investment consultancy, life insurer, or reinsurer.
  2. Coding experience is desirable.
