About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Pulmonary Rehabilitation team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing specialist assessment, goal-directed intervention, and rehabilitation to patients with respiratory conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a defined caseload of patients with respiratory conditions, using evidence-based and client-centered principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the outcomes of intervention.
  • Organize your workload efficiently and effectively, prioritizing clinical priorities and using your time wisely.
  • Ensure accurate and timely clinical records are kept, and report effectively to colleagues.
  • Work in partnership with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team to identify relevant goals and develop personalized care plans.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to junior staff, as delegated by your supervisor or Team Leader.
  • Regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.
  • Participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and develop your skills and knowledge through participation in the Band 6 Development Programme and other developmental activities.

Requirements
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent OT qualification)
  • Professional Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Experience of autonomous caseload management, comprising assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation within a relevant clinical area
  • Understanding of the Occupational Therapy process within the specialist area of pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance
  • Broad knowledge of current best practice in Occupational Therapy with designated client groups
  • Experience of research and/or audit and implementing evidence-based practice
  • Previous experience of supervising staff
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous experience of working within Pulmonary Rehabilitation or Respiratory care
