Job Summary:


We are seeking a highly motivated Benefits Specialist to join our team in Lancaster. As a Benefits Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring fair access to council support for our residents.



About the Role

This is a permanent position that requires strong administrative skills and attention to detail. You will be responsible for processing benefit claims accurately and promptly, administering correspondence related to Council Tax billing, and communicating with customers and other stakeholders effectively.



Key Responsibilities

  • Process Universal Credit claims efficiently and accurately
  • Administer benefit claims in accordance with Housing Benefit regulations and Council Tax Support rules
  • Manage Council Tax billing correspondence, including registration, changes of occupation, discounts, and exemptions
  • Communicate with customers, their representatives, and other organizations regarding benefit entitlement
  • Verify customer information to ensure secure access to benefits and minimize instances of fraud and error

Requirements
