The Opportunity

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is seeking an Access Strategy Manager to enhance its expanding operations in Northern Europe, specifically within the Cardiometabolic & Informatics division. This role will necessitate the leadership of both national and local access initiatives, the capability to generate persuasive and pertinent evidence in real-world scenarios, thereby augmenting the value proposition and facilitating favorable funding results.

What You'll Do

As a seasoned professional in Market Access, you will leverage your expertise in the UK to navigate the decision-making processes of payers within the rapid diagnostics Point of Care (POC) sector. Utilizing your established network and connections within payer and influencing communities, you will be instrumental in broadening the POC market and revenue streams for Abbott Rapid Diagnostics' Afinion and Cholestech LDX product lines.

Collaboration will be a crucial element for success, as working in close partnership with various functions within the organization is vital to maximize the efficacy of Market Access. You will engage closely with Medical and Government Affairs, Marketing, and Commercial teams, along with external stakeholders, to influence policy and practice in the UK, thereby promoting the value of point of care to secure funding and reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and execute comprehensive business strategies to tackle funding challenges in the UK POC market. Collaborate with local payers to delineate clear pathways for product adoption, ensuring that evidence aligns with local evaluation requirements.
  • Directly engage and cultivate relationships with stakeholders at local, regional, and national levels to enhance access and unlock funding for Point-of-Care solutions.
  • Assess potential threats and opportunities arising from legislation, regulations, and health technology assessments from governmental bodies, health authorities, and both public and private payers, while determining their implications alongside internal stakeholders.
  • When necessary, develop localized evidence in partnership with cross-functional teams from marketing, medical affairs, and commercial sectors.
  • Shape and manage the external landscape and the impact of payer/health policy by mapping the decision-making process, identifying key stakeholders, and presenting data and evidence to garner support and momentum for national POC adoption and funding.
  • Ensure full representation and active participation of the market access function in country commercial team strategies and meetings.

This role is field-based, with an anticipated travel requirement of 50-60% across the UK.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Market Access, particularly within the UK, with established networks among payers and senior NHS managers.
  • In-depth understanding of the healthcare landscape, including the payer/provider environment.
  • Experience in the Diagnostics sector is preferred, ideally with a background in collaborating with payers to secure funding for diagnostic solutions.
  • Strong commercial insight and negotiation skills with payers.
  • A degree is essential, with a preference for a Master's or PhD in a relevant field (e.g., health economics).
