About the Role

Zest is seeking a highly skilled Bid Manager to join our sales team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring successful bid responses to proposals and tenders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and Coordinate Bid Activity: Ensure bids are submitted on time and in line with the bid cycle.
  • Bid Qualification Process: Manage and contribute to the bid qualification process for new opportunities to ensure bids are in line with business strategy.
  • Virtual Bid Teams: Assemble and manage virtual bid teams comprising a variety of stakeholders from across the business to prepare a winning bid.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and motivate multi-functional stakeholders in line with bid timeframes.
  • Bid Management Plan: Develop and manage the bid management plan while maintaining responsibility for quality and consistency.
  • Proposal Content: Produce high-scoring proposal content that clearly articulates the benefits of our solution to meet specific client needs.
  • Bid Management Tools: Ensure all bid management tools are used to support the production of comprehensive, timely bids.
  • Regular Updates: Provide regular updates on bids currently in progress to the Head of Bid and CDO as required.
  • Support to Bid Writers: Support the Bid Writers with their submissions, including help with storyboarding and providing feedback on written quality responses as required.
  • Training and Development: Support the Head of Bid with training and development of the Bid team, in line with wider strategic goals.
  • Quality Assurance: Write and check drafts for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and formatting, and confirm that the response answers the question asked.
  • Business Review Meetings: Attend business review meetings, including quarterly market review meetings.
  • Collaboration: Engage with other sales team members and the wider business to ensure thorough and compelling bids are written and submitted.
  • Resource Management: Work with the Head of Bid to manage resources and timelines to ensure early identification of potential conflicts with bid timetables.
  • Reporting: Support the Head of Bid with reporting on key metrics and targets.
  • Issue Resolution: Communicate any issues and partner with other team members to address any issues ahead of time.
  • Governance: Ensure all bids are progressed in line with appropriate governance processes.

  • Achieve growth targets in line with current KPIs.

  • Internal: Chief Development Officer, Head of Bid, Senior Bid Manager, Bid Writers, Public Sector BDMs, Project Coordinator, Marketing Manager, Finance Director, CTO, CEO, Technical Director, and Operations Director.
  • External: Procurement officers, Directors of Service, Senior Managers, Sustainability/Environmental Leads, Public and Private Sector bodies.
