Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented lending professional to join our team. As an Underwriter at Bits, you will play a crucial role in assessing and evaluating credit applications, ensuring that we make sound lending decisions while maintaining a customer-first approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Credit Evaluation: Assess and underwrite credit applications, reviewing financial documents, credit reports, and other relevant data to determine applicant creditworthiness.
  • Risk Assessment: Analyse risk factors associated with each application, balancing the need for growth with the responsibility of managing risk.
  • Decision Making: Make informed lending decisions within set approval limits, escalating complex cases as needed.
  • Compliance: Ensure all underwriting decisions comply with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the risk manager and compliance team to refine and improve our underwriting criteria and processes.
  • Customer Interaction: Occasionally interact with customers to clarify information and provide explanations regarding underwriting decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in underwriting, preferably in a fintech or consumer credit environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in using underwriting software and financial analysis tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with large data sets.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly.
  • In-depth understanding of credit scoring models, risk assessment, and lending regulations.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
