About the Role

NHS Scotland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our multidisciplinary team as a Senior Crisis Practitioner. This is a full-time permanent position that requires a Registered Nurse in Mental Health or a Registered Occupational Therapist with significant post-registration experience in the field of mental health.

The successful candidate will provide support to individuals with complex mental health needs who present in 'crisis' and require intensive mental health care and treatment at home as an alternative to hospital admission. They will work closely with inpatient services to facilitate early discharge from hospital and carry out ongoing assessment, including risk assessment, while liaising with multiple stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and supervise junior members of staff. They will also have experience of managing significant risk within the field of mental health and be able to operate within the legal and ethical national frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to individuals with complex mental health needs
  • Work closely with inpatient services to facilitate early discharge from hospital
  • Carry out ongoing assessment, including risk assessment
  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders, including GPs, CMHT, MHAU, Specialist Services, and 3rd sector organisations
  • Supervise junior members of staff and evaluate their practice

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse in Mental Health or Registered Occupational Therapist
  • Significant post-registration experience in the field of mental health
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience of managing significant risk within the field of mental health
