Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team in the Wigan borough. This exciting opportunity offers a challenging and rewarding role in rehabilitation-focused occupational therapy.
About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced therapist with a strong background in rehabilitation and condition management. The ideal candidate will have a Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
The successful applicant will work closely with health and social care partners to support safe discharge utilizing a Home First approach, maintaining and improving people's functional abilities within their own homes and encouraging independence.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- To complete functional and specialist occupational therapy assessments of people in community settings.
- To plan and implement effective interventions, working closely with community services, while effectively managing risk.
- To act as a source of knowledge on the management of a varied range of conditions, providing an advisory service to patients, relatives, healthcare professionals, and social care.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills, with the ability to motivate people and empathize with the challenges of long-term condition management.
They should also have good literacy in computer use, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as effective communication and interpersonal skills.
A salary of around £40,000-£50,000 per annum, depending on experience, is available for this position.
