**Job Title**: Assistant Psychologist Nestlings Care Ltd Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Assistant Psychologist to join our team in a residential setting within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). As an Assistant Psychologist, you will work closely with qualified psychologists and other mental health professionals to provide high-quality care and support to young individuals experiencing mental health challenges. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in a residential setting while contributing to the well-being and development of young people in need. Key Responsibilities: Psychological Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct initial assessments and assist in the formulation of psychological profiles for residents.
Administer and score standardized psychological tests under the supervision of qualified psychologists. Collect and analyse relevant data to contribute to the understanding of residents' psychological needs. Individual and Group Interventions: Assist in the planning and delivery of therapeutic interventions tailored to meet the needs of individual residents. Facilitate group therapy sessions and psychoeducational workshops aimed at enhancing residents' coping skills and emotional regulation.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adjust strategies as necessary. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including psychiatrists, nurses, and occupational therapists to ensure holistic care for residents. Maintain regular communication with residents' families and carers, providing updates on progress and offering support as needed. Attend and actively contribute to team meetings, case conferences, and clinical supervision sessions.
**Documentation and Record-Keeping**: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, interventions, and progress notes in accordance with organizational and professional standards. Prepare written reports summarizing assessment findings, treatment plans, and recommendations for ongoing care. Crisis Intervention and Risk Management: Respond promptly to crisis situations, providing psychological support and implementing appropriate de-escalation techniques. Conduct risk assessments and collaborate with the team to develop safety plans to mitigate potential risks to residents' well-being.
**Professional Development**: Engage in ongoing professional development activities such as attending relevant training, workshops, and conferences. Seek supervision and guidance from qualified psychologists to enhance clinical skills and knowledge. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree (minimum 2:1) in Psychology or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Previous experience working with children and adolescents in a mental health or residential setting is desirable.
Knowledge of psychological assessment tools and therapeutic interventions commonly used in CAMHS. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with young individuals, families, and colleagues. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
