About the Role

IMI Norgren is a global leader in the design and development of innovative solutions for industrial control applications. We are seeking a highly skilled Design Innovation Engineer to join our team in Lichfield, UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize and develop new products through our internal NPD business process, collaborating closely with product managers and customers to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Design industrial control components and assemblies, generating 3D CAD models and 2D part/assembly drawings.
  • Write technical reports and design calculations, applying advanced simulation techniques to optimize product performance.
  • Create Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) reports and Design Verification Plans.
  • Deliver technical presentations to customers and internal stakeholders, generating intellectual property and patent applications.
  • Participate in cross-disciplinary project teams, supporting project managers with reporting on project progress and collaborating with suppliers.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to support customer meetings and supplier visits.
Critical Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Diploma in Computer-Aided Design and experience with CAE tools (such as FEA/CFD/Moldflow) is advantageous.
  • 3-5 years of component design experience with a good understanding of industrial control components or similar is required.
  • A history of designing and developing new products into various sectors and industries is essential.
  • Experience in mechatronics and integration of electronic components is desirable.
  • A sound understanding of fundamental engineering principles and excellent problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • An extensive knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes is required.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
