Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of professionalism and attention to detail. As a Cashier, you will be responsible for providing a full cashiering service to the Trust, working within the Standing Financial Instructions and Procedures.

Main Responsibilities
  • Process and reconcile all incoming cash and cheques, ensuring timely banking and accurate record-keeping.
  • Enter all income received into the Trust's General Ledger system, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Authorise and process payments from staff and patients for official accounts, issuing receipts as required.
  • Collect, count, and reconcile all monies from public phones, recording and logging figures prior to banking.
  • Balance daily all credit card payments cleared through the credit card machine, ensuring accurate record-keeping and receipting on the Finance system.
  • Resolve any queries or discrepancies arising from the above, arranging for necessary journals to be raised.
  • Provide guidance and training to relief cashiers, ensuring they are up-to-date with current regulations and procedures.
  • Raise initial e-proc or stationery requests with Team Support as required, in compliance with Standing Financial Instructions.
  • Analyse and resolve queries and discrepancies when reconciling floats and financial data.

Requirements
  • NVQ level 3 in a related subject or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • 5 x GCSE C or above or equivalent, including Maths and English Language.
  • Demonstrable finance experience preferred in a healthcare setting.
