SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Newham. This full-time, long-term role offers an exciting opportunity to grow within a supportive school community.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with children on the Autism spectrum in both one-to-one or small group settings, supporting their learning and development in a nurturing and inclusive setting.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide targeted support to students with Autism within the school's SEN provision. Responsibilities include assisting in implementing tailored Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs).

  • Deliver one-to-one and small-group support to address academic and social challenges.
  • Adapt learning resources and teaching techniques to meet individual student requirements.
  • Promote positive behaviours and emotional well-being in alignment with the school's ethos.
  • Contribute to planning and preparing differentiated classroom activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, preferably in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) setting as a SEN Teaching Assistant. A CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or similar qualifications are preferred.

Requirements

A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection is essential for this role. The successful applicant must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
