Job Summary

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Meet and Greet Volunteer to provide a warm and welcoming experience for patients, visitors, and staff. As a Meet and Greet Volunteer, you will be the first point of contact for individuals entering the hospital, providing a friendly and courteous greeting and ensuring all enquiries and requests are responded to.

This is an integral role that requires a high standard of service to be maintained at all times. The Meet and Greet Volunteer will be responsible for being positioned in the main entrance, greeting all patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and friendly manner, and being happy to help. They will also assist anyone entering the hospital who appears to be anxious or confused, escort or direct patients, visitors, and staff to wards and departments, and provide information about hospital facilities.

The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, be a good listener, and be able to be on their feet for most of the shift. They will also be able to provide wheelchair assistance, obtain or assist patients with self-check-in machines, and assist patients/visitors with carpark machines. All Volunteers will require a DBS check.

Main Duties

  • Be positioned in the main entrance to greet all patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and friendly manner
  • Assist anyone entering the hospital who appears to be anxious or confused
  • Escort or direct patients, visitors, and staff to wards and departments
  • Provide information about hospital facilities
  • Wheelchair assistance, obtain or assist patients with self-check-in machines
  • Assist patients/visitors with carpark machines
  • Locate unused wheelchairs and return them to the main entrance
  • Treat all information received with the strictest of confidentiality
  • Provide face masks to any patient or visitor requesting them

Experience

  • Good communication skills, and likes talking to people, able to communicate clearly and effectively
