Ministry Opportunity

We are seeking an Anglican priest to lead ministry across Mid Canterbury, working in conjunction with the Archdeacon and key lay people. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for the provision and development of ministry and mission in the parishes of Methven, Rakaia, and Mayfield-Mount Somers.

The role involves facilitating the vision for Anglican ministry and mission in Mid Canterbury, working collaboratively with available ordained and lay ministers, and living in the Vicarage in Methven or receiving a housing allowance.

The Archdeacon will work with the Associate Priest to prepare the Archdeaconry for the future, equipping the Church to grow in numbers, spiritual commitment, and service to the community.

Applicants must be Anglican priests in good standing with their present bishop and have the right to work in New Zealand.

We are looking for a candidate who is willing to undertake Police vetting and is committed to the Anglican Communion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the vision for Anglican ministry and mission in Mid Canterbury
  • Provide and develop ministry and mission in the parishes of Methven, Rakaia, and Mayfield-Mount Somers
  • Work collaboratively with available ordained and lay ministers
  • Live in the Vicarage in Methven or receive a housing allowance
  • Undertake Police vetting
