Our client Scottish Power Renewables is seeking a highly skilled Design Assurance Manager to join their team in London or Glasgow on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have experience with large-scale projects and a strong understanding of design assurance principles and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement the design assurance process for offshore windfarm projects, ensuring alignment with project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Support the establishment of suitable design assurance measures, including design reviews, verification, and validation processes.
- Provide guidance and training to Package teams on design assurance practices and processes.
- Support Package teams in identifying and assessing design-related risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Ensure maintenance of design risk registers and cumulation in an ALARP register.
- Support Package teams in conducting due diligence of consultants and contractors.
- Ensure appropriate verification activities are implemented across the project.
- Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications in design assurance, quality management, or project management (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, PMP) are advantageous.
- Strong understanding of design assurance principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Familiarity with engineering design processes and quality management systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements in industries such as offshore wind, oil & gas, marine, or heavy infrastructure.
- Experience in managing design assurance within large-scale projects, preferably in a similar or related industry.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, risk management, and resource allocation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex situations and develop practical solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to critically evaluate design outputs for compliance and quality.
- Fluent in English.
- IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT-based project management software.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and influence outcomes.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Flexible to travel around the UK and overseas.
- Report to the Engineering Manager.
- Accountable to the Engineering Department Design Assurance Lead and relevant Project Engineering Managers.
- Support Package Managers and Engineers in application of Design Assurance activities to comply with standards and minimise technical risks.
- Collaborate with other Functional Teams, such as HSE, Quality, Consent Compliance to ensure their requirements are being appropriately addressed.
