Role Overview


The University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking a skilled Clinical Specialist in Weight Management Dietetics to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This exciting opportunity allows you to work alongside a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients with weight management pre- and post-bariatric surgery.



About the Role


As a Clinical Specialist in Weight Management Dietetics, you will be responsible for providing timely specialist dietetic advice to patients, their carers, and staff within agreed protocols and guidelines. Your expertise will encompass assessing and treating highly specialized patients, maintaining associated records, and liaising with dietetic colleagues and other hospital staff as necessary.



Key Responsibilities


You will be expected to:



  • Carry out nutritional assessments, determining nutritional problems, and developing treatment plans, including calculation of nutritional requirements and analysis of intakes using specialist IT systems.
  • Preset dietary treatment and ACBS products for conditions with limited professional or clinical guidelines available.
  • Monitor patient progress through agreed pathways for pre- and post-surgery.
  • Communicate nutrition and dietetic information effectively to healthcare professionals, clients, and carers, requiring negotiation, persuasion, motivation, and counselling skills.
  • Liaise with nursing and dietetic staff to ensure service provision for individual patients.
  • Attend and participate in multidisciplinary meetings, raising concerns and requesting referrals to other healthcare professionals as required.

Your Qualifications and Experience


To be successful in this role, you must have the following qualifications and experience:



  • A recognized degree in dietetics or a related field (see supporting documents).
  • Significant experience working in a similar role, preferably in a hospital setting (see supporting documents).


Salary Details


The estimated salary for this position is £42,497 - £55,395 per annum, depending on experience.
