About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Plant Manager to join our team at CRH, a leading provider of building materials solutions. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading and inspiring local departmental managers and the wider operations team to foster a culture of sustainable and continuous improvement.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the best possible return and levels of service across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Inventory.
  • Develop and execute the manufacturing strategy to maximize operational effectiveness.
  • Lead, manage, and motivate the operations team in the delivery of consistently high standards of safety, product quality, operational excellence, and customer service.
  • Promote a safety-first culture where everyone adheres to safe work practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Work closely with Commercial, Purchasing, Product Management, and Quality teams to ensure quick, pragmatic, and lasting resolutions to any issues affecting customer service and performance.
  • Manage the development and delivery of CX and OPEX improvement initiatives.
  • Inspire manufacturing teams to challenge existing processes and implement sound solutions.
  • Ensure costs are minimized through the best possible utilization of material, plant, equipment, staff, and consumable purchases.
  • Manage the planning and development of budget figures and investment plans, monitoring progress throughout the year.

Requirements

  • A degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • A proven track record of leading and implementing improvement projects.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing processes and materials used throughout the metal processing industry.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of wire forming and strip steel stamping are desirable.
  • An excellent knowledge of implementing continuous improvement and operational excellence philosophies, including lean and six sigma.
  • A good knowledge of ERP and ideally SAP.
  • A developed awareness of and full commitment to the adherence of health and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrable Operations Management experience of running a successful high-volume manufacturing operation.
  • The ability to challenge conventional methodology and deliver new ways of working in a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organizational leadership skills, with a desire to coach and build capability and instill best practices across a team.
