About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Designer to join our team at Brandon James Ltd, a dynamic and mid-sized consultancy based in the UK. As a Principal Designer, you will play a crucial role in leading design risk management across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, and embedding health and safety into the design process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Risk Management: Lead design risk assessments and ensure effective hazard elimination, providing expert advice on health and safety risks during the design phase.
  • CDM Compliance: Deliver Principal Designer duties in line with CDM 2015 regulations, preparing and reviewing pre-construction information and construction phase plans.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure CDM compliance, conducting site inspections and audits to monitor safety performance.
  • Team Leadership: Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to the development of the consultancy and ensuring the highest standards of health and safety.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree in a construction-related field, NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification, and Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB, or APS).
  • Experience: Proven experience in delivering Principal Designer duties in the construction industry, with in-depth knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and health and safety best practices.
  • Skills: Strong communication and leadership skills, ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines, and proficiency in relevant software and tools.
