Avenue Scotland - FALKIRK is seeking a highly skilled Principal Designer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice on construction projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage projects from inception to completion, working closely with clients, design teams, and contractors to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Provide comprehensive guidance and support to clients on their CDM duties, developing strategies to ensure compliance with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015.
- Develop and maintain effective health and safety systems and policies for clients, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Attend and coordinate design and project meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Assist contractors in developing construction phase plans, ensuring all necessary safety measures are implemented.
- Maintain accurate project records, including meeting minutes, to ensure a clear audit trail.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of policy documents, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines, including health and safety policies.
- Deliver high-quality, client-focused products and services, meeting agreed requirements and expectations.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in dealing with client and design teams, with a strong understanding of construction project management.
- Experience working in a commercial environment, with a track record of meeting agreed targets and deadlines.
- Knowledge of construction project work, including experience with various types of projects and construction methods.
- CITB CSCS card or willingness to obtain.
- Evidence of continued professional development, with a strong commitment to staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
- Thorough understanding of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015, with experience in implementing and enforcing safety protocols.
- Desirable: Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), CMAPS, TECH/GRAD/CMIOSH.
- Ability to work independently, with a high degree of autonomy and motivation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficient in using IT systems, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project, as well as databases.
