You will work autonomously to assess the cases of people who are applying for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefit or a Work Capability Assessment (WCA) as part of the DWPs Health Assessment and Advisory Services (HAAS). This will involve holding consultations and writing fair and accurate reports.
As a Functional Assessor, you will be responsible for assessing a variety of complex conditions and impairments, using your strong verbal communication skills to write high-quality, fair, and accurate assessment reports using a special IT system.
We are committed to providing our Functional Assessors with the support and training they need to succeed in this role. Our accredited training program and dedicated support structure will help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to excel as a Functional Assessor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Holding telephone, video, or in-person consultations with people who are applying for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefit or a Work Capability Assessment (WCA).
- Assessing a variety of complex conditions and impairments.
- Using your strong verbal communication skills to write high-quality, fair, and accurate assessment reports using a special IT system.
- Working with your line manager to advance your own professional development and career as a Functional Assessor.
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 12 months post-registration experience working as a Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Paramedic, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, or Pharmacist.
- You must hold full registration with one of the following professional bodies: Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
