Job SummaryThe Lung Cancer Screening Programme aims to enable early detection of lung cancer to save lives. The Targeted Lung Health Check (TLHC) has been implemented throughout the UK in areas with high disease prevalence, where significant impact can be made through early-stage lung cancer recognition and curative treatment.
Main Responsibilities- Welcome patients to the clinic professionally and act as patient advocates at all times to ensure privacy and dignity.
- Clarify patients' identification and explain the TLHC appointment process.
- Manage clinical risk within designated working areas.
- Ensure smooth clinical and administrative work flow while supporting nurses and colleagues.
- Support patients to safely access subsequent elements of the TLHC appointment (potential CT scan) and provide patient handovers at secondary locations.
- Accurately enter data into patient management systems and maintain these systems with up-to-date information.
- Adhere to the Data Protection Act (1984) to maintain confidentiality regarding staff and patients.
- Handle telephone and direct enquiries promptly and effectively, ensuring provision of information and prioritisation of queries as appropriate.
- Facilitate efficient patient scheduling and throughput, leading to optimal use of nursing capacity.
- Clean, monitor, and tidy equipment as directed and report any problems or malfunctions to senior staff members.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Stay updated on mandatory training and complete additional courses required for this role.
- Understand all responsibilities and adhere to statutory requirements for Health & Safety, COSHH, PPE, fire safety, complaints, accident reporting, magnetic field & radiation safety.
- Comply with ISO standards for Information Security Management.
- Demonstrate safe and effective practice according to InHealth policies and procedures.
- Experience in dealing with customers and/or patients, knowing how to handle their queries effectively and sensitively.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and awareness of data protection.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good listening skills with ability to present information logically.
- Good standard of education demonstrated by numeracy and literacy.
- Flexibility in working patterns to meet clinical requirements and willingness to adjust these at short notice to accommodate unexpected changes.
- Awareness of patient confidentiality and GDPR.
- Confidence in prioritising tasks.
- Proficiency in administration processes and Microsoft packages.
- Able to follow instructions to support colleagues and patients.
- You should be willing to be flexible when working shifts required.
- There may be instances where our HCAs need to work additional hours or outside their region to support operational requirements.
- National travel may be required to attend training courses.
- A full driving license is necessary due to the travel involved in this role.
Estimated Salary: £22,400 per annum
