We are seeking a skilled Production Operator to join our team at Northwood, a leading manufacturer of paper hygiene and wiping products. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for operating our high-speed converting lines and rewinder, ensuring efficient operation with minimal waste in accordance with customer specifications.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a factory or manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of production processes and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of housekeeping and working in accordance with all health and safety procedures and standards.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Operating the rewinder to a high standard of safety and good housekeeping.
- Understanding the entire rewinding process, including loading and unloading of reels.
- Testing each reel manufactured off the rewinder, recording, analyzing, and making any necessary adjustments to ensure the product meets the required specification.
- Stopping and starting the rewinder safely and efficiently.
- Operating, assisting, monitoring, or directing the converting and packaging line as needed.
- Safely wrapping, unwrapping, weighing, stacking, moving, loading, and unloading heavy goods vehicles using a forklift truck.
This is a days-based role working 8am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday, with the possibility of working shifts of 2 days followed by 2 nights and 4 days off as you progress in the role.
Essential Skills- Forklift truck experience is desirable.
- The ability to commute within 1 hour of Lancaster is required.
- Experience in a factory or manufacturing environment is essential.
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in maths, English, and IT is required.
- Basic IT skills and experience with Microsoft Office are necessary.
