Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Furniture Restoration Specialist to join our team at the National Trust. This is a unique opportunity for someone with a passion for conservation and restoration to work on a wide range of heritage furniture pieces.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking remedial conservation work on furniture, using practical and scientific restoration techniques to conserve and restore heritage furniture. This will involve working closely with our Collection and House teams, curators, and other conservators to ensure that our conservation activities are effectively promoted to specialists and non-specialists alike.
About You
We are looking for an individual with a formal vocational or professional qualification in conservation, as well as relevant experience in the conservation treatment of furniture. You should have excellent practical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to manage your time and prioritise tasks effectively. Additionally, you should be able to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships, and create and maintain accurate documentation in a timely manner.
What We Offer
In return for your hard work and dedication, we offer a competitive salary of £30,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience. About Our Team
We are a small team specialising in different fields of conservation, including paintings, frames, and objects. Our open-plan studio is perfect for multi-disciplinary teamwork, where specialists share their skills and expertise to deliver conservation treatments on National Trust collections with each other and with visitors to the studio.
Your Contract
Your contractual location will be our Royal Oak Foundation Conservation Studio in Knole, Kent, and there will be an expectation for you to attend the studio regularly. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times, and you may be required to travel and stay overnight when visiting sites for works required. Please note that some weekend working will be required as the Conservation Studio is open to the public.
