We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band B Special Care Dentist to join our team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a clinical leader, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality dental care to patients with additional needs, while also providing clinical leadership to the local dental team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of clinical dental care for people with additional needs, including treatment under general anaesthesia and sedation.
  • Lead the local dental team, promoting a culture of excellence and providing guidance and support to colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider clinical team and oral health promotion staff to provide high-quality dental care to patients.
  • Meet personal performance targets, including clinical activity and management tasks.
  • Provide line management for Band A dental officers, including absence monitoring, supervision of leave and study leave, and annual appraisal.

Requirements

  • BDS or equivalent qualification.
  • Appropriate postgraduate qualification.
  • Full registration with the General Dental Council.
  • VT Number or equivalent.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development.
  • On an NHS Dental Performers List.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Familiarity with IT systems.
  • Commitment to learning NHS rules and regulations.
  • Significant experience of providing routine dental care.
  • Previous experience of working within Special Care Dentistry.
  • Experience of complex clinical treatment plans.
