Job Title: Lineman

Telecon is seeking a skilled and motivated Lineman to join our Civil Team. As a Lineman, you will be responsible for installing telecommunications infrastructure, including buried cable, wire, and ducts, for various projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints or job specifications to execute all work assigned safely and in accordance to Telecon's health and safety policy
  • Work outdoors in various conditions to place copper or fibre optic telecommunication cables
  • Climb poles, ladders, and construction equipment to assist in the installation of telecommunication cables and apparatus
  • String cables between structures, manholes, poles, towers, or trenches and ensure proper tension
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment
  • Accurately record and report project progress to supervisory personnel and communicate any issues or expected delays
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar role
  • High school diploma
  • Valid Ontario driver's license with clean driving record and Z endorsement for operating Expercom line vehicles and rubber tracked excavators
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet
  • Able to complete necessary training for working at heights and confined space, pass corresponding examinations, and receive client authorization number
  • Good communication skills with ability to work independently or in a team
