Job Title: Lineman

Telecon is seeking a skilled Lineman to join our Civil Team. As a Lineman, you will be responsible for installing telecommunications infrastructure, including buried cable, wire, and ducts, for various projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints or job specifications to execute work safely and in accordance with Telecon's health and safety policy.
  • Work outdoors in various conditions to place copper or fibre optic telecommunications cables.
  • Climb poles, ladders, and construction equipment to assist in the installation of telecommunication cables and apparatus.
  • String cables between structures, manholes, poles, towers, or trenches and ensure proper tension.
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Accurately record and report project progress to supervisory personnel and communicate any issues or expected delays.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar role.
  • High school diploma.
  • Valid Ontario driver's license with a clean driving record and a Z endorsement to operate Expercom line vehicles and a rubber-tracked excavator.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet.
  • Able to complete necessary training for working at heights and confined space, pass corresponding examinations, and receive a client authorization number.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team.
