As a Consultant Psychiatrist based at Tunbridge Wells Hospital and Maidstone Hospital in Kent, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality clinical service. You will be actively involved in the strategic development of the team and broader services within Kent and Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust.

We are looking for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with excellent clinical skills to join our team. As a liaison psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing psychiatric care to patients referred to the Liaison Psychiatry Service. You will also provide professional leadership, including clinical supervision to the medical team, and ensure effective liaison occurs between mental health services and the acute hospital, as well as other agencies in the voluntary and statutory sectors as appropriate.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To provide psychiatric care to patients referred to the Liaison Psychiatry Service
  • To provide professional leadership, including clinical supervision to the medical team
  • To ensure effective liaison occurs between mental health services and the acute hospital, as well as other agencies in the voluntary and statutory sectors as appropriate
  • To act as a Responsible Clinician (Approved Clinician status) for patients detained under the Mental Health Act to the acute trust

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of application
  • Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment
