Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant/Fly Technician to join our team at the University of Cambridge.

About the Role: As a Research Assistant/Fly Technician, you will provide Drosophila husbandry and laboratory support to our research team. This will include fly collection maintenance, fly stock generation, tissue dissections, and molecular biology and biochemistry experimental support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Drosophila husbandry support, including fly collection maintenance and fly stock generation.
  • Conduct tissue dissections and provide molecular biology and biochemistry experimental support.
  • Work effectively individually and as part of a diverse team.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of expertise in Drosophila husbandry and laboratory skills.
  • Contribute to the development of new research projects and ideas.

Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree (or equivalent practical research experience) in a relevant discipline (Biology, Biochemistry, Natural Sciences). You will also need to be a reliable and competent individual with expertise in Drosophila husbandry and laboratory skills.
