Job Overview

As a Principal EMC Design Engineer at ZipRecruiter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the electromagnetic compatibility of our electrical systems. This includes specifying and managing requirements, advising design teams on EMC considerations, and mentoring engineers within the team.

The ideal candidate will have a BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent qualification, professional registration at Chartered level, and experience of design for EMC compliance.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on location and experience.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work on complex electrical systems and ensure they meet the required standards. You will be working closely with the Engineering Manager and external specialists to provide transversal support to engineering delivery teams.

We are looking for an experienced engineer who can lead the EMC team and provide guidance on designing and implementing system mitigation to meet EMC standards.

Responsibilities
  • Specify and manage requirements and acceptance criteria specific to a system, platforms or programmes
  • Advising design teams on EMC requirements and design considerations
  • Liaising with EMC test engineers to design and specify testing regimes to prove system compliance against relevant standards
  • Designing and implementing system mitigation to meet EMC standards
  • Mentoring and coaching Engineers within the team
Requirements
  • BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent qualification
  • Professional registration at Chartered level or evidence of working towards this
  • Experience of design for EMC compliance
  • Knowledge of EMC Defence Standards would be an advantage
  • Proven experience and ability to coach others in a team
