Job Title: Physiotherapy Team Leader - Trauma & Orthopaedics

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our Trauma and Orthopaedics team as the Therapy Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily clinical and managerial leadership of the T&O Therapy service, which consists of a mixed team of 12 staff and includes OT, Physio, and Therapy assistants. The team clinically covers 41 beds across 2 wards and has a twice-weekly pre-op clinic as well as a newly formed Domiciliary service.

The successful candidate will have clinical experience in the area of Trauma and Orthopaedics as well as relevant leadership experience. They will be responsible for the clinical and operational management of the T&O Therapy service, including clinical supervision, performance management, sickness and absence management, staff appraisal, and CSTF. They will also be responsible for the daily leadership and organization of the T&O Team, including staff deployment across a 7-day service, service review, and service development.

Main Duties of the Job

As Team Leader, you will have clinical and operational responsibility for T&O Therapy Services. Clinically, you will manage a small complex caseload as well as being the point of clinical excellence and development within the team. You will be responsible for ensuring each team member has a personal development plan, regular review of clinical competencies, and oversee a progressive in-service training plan. You will also be responsible for ensuring you are up to date with current practice guidelines.

Operationally, you will be responsible for the daily leadership and organization of the T&O Team, including clinical supervision, performance management, sickness and absence management, staff appraisal, and CSTF. You will also be responsible for the daily leadership and organization of the T&O Team, including staff deployment across a 7-day service, service review, and service development.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to provide clinical and team leadership with a focus on delivering a high-quality of care across the clinical areas as well as overseeing the successful delivery and expansion of the role of Therapy. The successful candidate will be supported in post by the Inpatient Therapy services lead as well as extensive CPD training opportunities and access to organisational development and leadership development opportunities. You will be expected to participate in the weekend T&O rota.

Person Specification

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Physiotherapist with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Extensive postgraduate experience working within the relevant clinical field with a minimum 5 years' experience
  • Excellent advanced knowledge of the management of relevant patient group
  • Extensive experience of working closely with MDT
  • Experience of clinical education of less experienced staff (including students)
  • Experience working within the NHS
  • Evidence of participation in audit/research
Qualifications and Professional Training

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and professional training:

  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Evidence of postgraduate learning
  • Membership of appropriate special interest group
