About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Operating Department Practitioner to join our client's specialist eye surgery team in Edinburgh. As part of our surgical team, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care within our state-of-the-art theatre facilities.

Your Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in the theatre setting, assisting in surgical procedures while maintaining a safe, sterile environment. You will also prepare and manage surgical instruments and equipment, monitor patients throughout their procedures, and collaborate effectively with the surgical team for efficient patient care.

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience as a Theatre Practitioner or in a similar role (preferred).
  • Experience in ophthalmology (a strong advantage).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and critical care principles.
  • Proven ability to analyse situations and make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Expertise in maintaining a sterile environment and infection prevention practices.
  • Basic Life Support certification (essential).
