Procurement Manager - Defence Sector

Are you a strategic thinking procurement professional looking to work on high-profile projects in the defence sector? We are seeking a skilled Procurement Manager to join our team and contribute to the success of our defence projects.

About the Role

As a Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, policies, and processes that align with our defence sector goals. You will work closely with our senior procurement manager to deliver project procurement objectives and requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide market intelligence, cost advice, and supply chain performance management and feedback
  2. Support a team of procurement professionals, including training and development, staff appraisals, retention and reward, and recruitment
  3. Be responsible and accountable for the procurement process of subcontractors, materials, plant, and services, in accordance with the project procurement strategy and project commitments
  4. Be accountable for the provision of management information and reports in accordance with project requirements
  5. Develop professional, robust, and effective working relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers who will provide best value to the project
Essential Skills and Experience
  1. Subcontract procurement
  2. Negotiation skills
  3. Legal and contracting law
  4. Risk and opportunity management
  5. Project procurement strategy
  6. Experience of working within the construction industry or similar and demonstrated knowledge of the interfaces and relationships that exist
  7. Demonstrates the ability to manage, plan, and structure operational procurement resources of mixed experience and capability
  8. Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  9. Delivering robust procurement strategies
  10. A measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement
  11. Has delivered demonstrable added value through their procurement activity
Desirable Qualifications

Experience of CIPS or working towards CIPS is desirable (or chartership in another discipline CIOB or RICS). We are also considering relevant in-job experience. We are considering candidates who are able to get to our project offices or in Dartford or Manchester.
