Advanced Pharmacist – Technical Services (Band 8a)

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is seeking a skilled pharmacist to manage and provide support for the Aseptic Pharmacy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a wide range of products prepared in the Aseptic unit, including chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition, and radiopharmaceuticals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support the lead Aseptic pharmacist in the delivery of an integrated pharmaceutical production service.
  2. Contribute to the provision of all forms of aseptically prepared injectable medicines, ensuring compliance with approved guidelines/protocols and legal frameworks.
  3. Perform the role of an authorised Pharmacist or as an accredited product approver, maintaining competency in this role.
  4. Support the lead production pharmacist in the development and maintenance of departmental standard operating procedures.
  5. Support the lead production pharmacist in the development, maintenance, and approval of product worksheets as required.
  6. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the departmental Quality Management Systems (QMS) and lead specific aspects as directed.
  7. Participate in internal and external audits of technical services and contribute to completion of actions identified.
  8. Record and document workload statistics and capacity for the production unit to support financial and clinical governance.
  9. Supervise technical services staff and ensure MHRA guidance and GMP is observed during aseptic production.
  10. Perform the role of the Pharmacy Radiation protection Supervisor (RPS) for the local acute site, ensuring compliance with Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR2017).
  11. Escalate concerns or risks associated with the Radiopharmacy service production lead Pharmacist and senior management as appropriate.
