Energy Modelling Expert for Sustainable Energy Futures

The role of Whole Energy Modelling Analyst at National Grid is a critical position that plays a vital part in shaping the future of Great Britain's energy network. As we work towards creating a cleaner, greener, and more affordable future for all, this expert will be instrumental in analysing and developing whole energy system insights to inform decision-making.
With a wide understanding of the energy sector, you will possess knowledge of the structure, political/regulatory environment, and the short- and long-term issues affecting the industry. Your analytical skills will enable you to think holistically across energy vectors, bringing together a whole energy systems approach to provide valuable insights and analyses for diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with a team of Whole Energy Modelling Analysts under the guidance of the Whole Energy Modelling Manager to ensure modelling is robust and effectively informs whole energy insights and responses to requests for advice, analysis, and information from government and the regulator.
- Conduct the modelling and analysis required for specific projects in the portfolio of statutory requests and whole energy insights, working with cross-functional teams to develop the overall scope, assumptions, and parameters for each project.
- Apply whole system thinking to draw conclusions from your analyses and share your findings with the wider Strategy and Policy directorate, working with them to translate these conclusions into compelling, evidence-based insights.
- A wide understanding of the energy sector, including knowledge of the structure, political/regulatory environment, and the short- and long-term issues affecting the industry.
- Analytical skills, including experience in analytical roles, thinking holistically across energy vectors, and converting quantitative and qualitative data into valuable insights and analyses for diverse audiences.
- Structured problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-related challenges and solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, enabling you to convey complex findings to non-technical stakeholders and translate data and analysis into value-adding insights, commentary, and recommendations.
A competitive salary between £52,000 and £65,000 per annum, depending on experience and capability, as well as a bonus based on company performance. You will also receive 26 days annual leave as standard, a contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution up to a maximum company contribution of 12%, and a generous Total Rewards Plan comprising health, finance, and wealth benefits, work/life balance, and career development resources.
