About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Regional Facilities Engineering Lead to join our team at ENGINEERINGUK. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the engineering operations of our data centers across three Amazon availability zones.


Responsibilities
  1. Oversee on-site management of engineering operations teams, ensuring adherence to Amazon practices and procedures.
  2. Ensure primary responsibility for engineering systems availability in both leased and colocated facilities.
  3. Develop and implement training programs for team members.
  4. Analyze business requirements to set priorities and develop project plans.
  5. Communicate effectively with stakeholders about project progress and challenges.
  6. Develop and maintain performance metrics to measure success.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency.
  8. Manage the operation and maintenance of critical systems including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
  9. Support the design and build-out of new facilities.
  10. Manage asset and inventory levels to optimize resources.
  11. Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills to meet customer demands.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical (Military/Trade School) Degree and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a mission-critical environment and large-scale event management.
  • 3+ years of experience in people management.
  • Vendor negotiation and management experience for Data Center and/or upgrade construction contracts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Expertise in Electrical systems in critical Data Center operations including but not limited to utility substation feeds, transformers, switchgear, VFI Class UPS, DRUPS, PDUs, ATS, STS, SLA/VRLA batteries, diesel/gas turbine generators, and associated fuel systems.
  • Strong understanding of Mechanical systems in critical Data Center operations including CRAC/CRAHs/AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, storage tanks, chemical system, heat exchangers, piping systems, pumps, valves, duct systems, fans, dampers.
  • Familiarity with other facilities systems used in Data Centers and Mission critical facilities including fire detection and suppression systems, plumbing and drainage systems, Building Monitoring Systems, automatic control systems.
  • Knowledge of design, procurement, suitability of application, testing, and commissioning.
  • Certifications/Accreditations that will be viewed positively: PMP; ITIL v2/3; CAD.
