Senior Clinical Lead for Paediatric Respiratory Nursing

At King's College Hospital, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Nurse Specialist to lead our paediatric respiratory service. Our team provides expert care for infants and children with complex respiratory conditions, and we are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
The successful candidate will be responsible for co-ordinating and delivering expert nursing care to a defined caseload of children and young people, and their families, across both acute and community settings. They will also lead in the development of evidence-based clinical nursing practice, maintain clear lines of communication with primary healthcare teams, and act as a key resource and source of specialist support to colleagues.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of practice and innovative service development, including taking a lead in the implementation of policy. They will also have experience of running research and audit programmes, and be able to impart complex information to patients, parents, and carers, with different levels of understanding.
- Main Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist nursing service for babies, children, and young people with specialist respiratory care needs
- Accept responsibility for own patient caseload, ensuring all patients have an accurate plan of care
- Assess health, health-related and nursing needs of the children and young people, families, and other carers
- Attend/run outpatient clinics to follow up patients and ensure all relevant information is available
- Assess and manage critical and clinical events to ensure safe and effective care
- Support and empower patients, their families, and other carers to influence and participate in decisions concerning their care
- Facilitate learning in relation to identified health needs for patients and carers
- Implement programmes of education and training according to the identified health needs of patients, carers, and others involved in their care
- Provide counselling and psychological support for individuals and their carers
- Act independently within a multi-disciplinary/multi-agency context promoting children's well-being and safeguarding them from harm
- NMC Part 1 (Children)
- Relevant Master's degree or evidence of working at masters level and willingness to complete a master level programme
- Non-Medical Prescribing Course
