About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Orthoptist to join our team at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Orthoptist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our Medical Retina services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, manage, and treat patients presenting to the Orthoptic department, formulating relevant discharge plans and making appropriate onward referrals.
  • Provide timely paediatric and adult Orthoptic Services at Addenbrooke's NHS Trust and off-site Community Services, including specialist Orthoptic Services.
  • Participate in extended Orthoptic clinical roles and work closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Perform intravitreal injections on patients with age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy in a Consultant-led Clinic, following a competency-based programme of training.

Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree level qualification in Orthoptics or a related field.
  • State registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Evidence of ongoing commitment to Continuous Professional Development.
  • Good level of clinical experience within Ophthalmology/Orthoptic teams.
  • Experience working under own initiative and delivering evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and colleagues.
