Orthoptist Opportunity at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

We are seeking an experienced Orthoptist to join our dynamic team at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. As a key member of our Orthoptic department, you will work closely with our team of Orthoptists and Consultants to provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of our services.

As an Orthoptist at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of specialist clinics, including Strabismus, Paediatric-Ophthalmology, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, and Medical Retina. You will also be involved in Community Clinics and have the chance to develop your skills and expertise in these areas.

Main Responsibilities
  • Providing Orthoptic and visual field services to patients at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust and off-site clinics, as required by the Head Orthoptist or their Deputy.
  • Supervising and clinically instructing undergraduate Orthoptic students and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contributing to departmental teaching, research, and audit.
Requirements
  • Orthoptic Degree or Diploma recognised for State Registration.
  • State Registration with the HCPC.
  • Degree awarded at 2:1 or above.
  • Exemptions Qualification.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Experience of investigating, diagnosing, and managing complex ocular motility defects.
  • Experience of assessing children and adults with special needs.
  • Experience of Visual Field examination using Humphrey Visual Field Analyser.
  • Understanding of clinical audit.
  • Experience of Octopus Visual Fields.
  • Experience of Optical Coherence Tomography.
  • Experience working in a tertiary referral hospital.
