Financial Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team at UK Research and Innovation. As a key member of our Finance Team, you will be responsible for providing financial management and accounting services to support our research and innovation activities.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with UKRI's financial regulations.
- Provide financial analysis and advice to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure effective financial planning and budgeting.
- Part-qualified Accountant (CCAB or CIMA) or significant relevant finance work experience.
- Experience of working within a complex financial environment, with an appreciation of project accounting.
- Experience of working at a high level with a computerised finance system, including production of reports and exporting to Excel/Word and manipulating and analysing large and complex data sets.
- Very good working knowledge of basic financial accounting functions, such as accruals, prepayments, debits, credits, etc., as well as control accounts.
- Ability to manage work and meet tight timescales and adapt to regularly changing priorities, including the ability to work unsupervised and under own initiative to problem solve and identify solutions.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and effectively present accurate and complex financial information, applying excellent attention to detail.
