Medical Microbiologist

The NHS Professionals Ltd and Doctors Direct is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Fellow (Registrar level) to join the Trust on a 12-month fixed term contract working within the Microbiology & Infection team based at hospital site.

This position offers diverse learning opportunities in clinical and laboratory microbiology. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing microbiology & infection consultations, liaison & advice, daily infection ward rounds, laboratory bench rounds, report authorisation, infection prevention & control liaison, antimicrobial stewardship activities/ward rounds as part of the Microbiology/ Infection team, under the supervision of a duty consultant.

The salary for this position is estimated to be around £50,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate must have evidence that their present level of achievement and performance is commensurate with the totality of their period of training.

Responsibilities:

• Provide microbiology & infection consultations, ward liaison, and advice.
• Participate in infection ward rounds (Bacteraemia, ITU/HDU, MRU, C. diff) and MDTs (Haematology, Diabetic Foot, Orthopaedic).
• Authorise laboratory reports under consultant supervision.
• Engage with primary and secondary care clinicians and health workers through verbal, written, and electronic forms.
