About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Examiner Team Lead to join our team at the NHS. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a small team of Medical Examiners, working closely with our medical staff and sharing innovative practice in data management, collating mortality reports, and linking with our regional teams.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in patient safety, risk management, and medical examiner systems, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. They will be able to make logical decisions based on current situations, lead meetings, and manage day-to-day operations of a customer-facing service.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Medical Examiners and support them in their roles.
  • Work closely with medical staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of mortality reports.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to share best practices and improve local processes of death certification.
  • Develop protocols, guidelines, and policies for the Medical Examiner Service.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to relatives of deceased patients, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Masters-level education or equivalent practical experience at an advanced level.
  • Completed e-learning MEO core training modules prior to starting in the post.
  • Experience of working with people in sensitive and emotional situations.
  • Leadership experience of working in a healthcare or related setting with multidisciplinary teams.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is £54,320 to £60,981 per annum inclusive of HCAS, depending on experience. We offer a range of benefits, including pension scheme, annual leave, and opportunities for professional development.
