About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Policy Officer to join our Government Affairs team at the National Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the Trust's policy influence and ensuring that our voice is heard in government decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with government policy makers and officials to promote the National Trust's interests and influence policy outcomes.
  • Identify and advise on potential risks and opportunities arising from government policies and work with colleagues to develop effective responses.
  • Support the Head of Government Affairs in building and maintaining relationships with ministers, officials, and sector partners to advance the Trust's agenda.
  • Develop and communicate the National Trust's views on public policy, with a focus on planning, infrastructure, and the built environment.
Requirements
  • Experience of working on public policy issues and a good understanding of the UK political system and government policy-making processes.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear and concise language.
  • General awareness of current UK public policy relating to local planning and infrastructure.
